Welcome to Omnicom School of Languages!
You have chosen to enrol in one of the finest private language academies in Canada.
What can you expect on your first day?
You will be greeted by the front office staff as soon as you arrive. You will meet the Program Director, the Director of Studies, and the Director of Student Counsellors - if you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
What you need...
We ask that you bring the Letter of Acceptance from the school, and your passport. We will take photocopies of these documents for our records, and return them to you right away.
Testing...
Before you can begin your studies, we must make an evaluation of your language abilities. This includes a Written Test of grammar, vocabulary and writing skills, and an Oral Test of your speaking and listening skills.
The Written Test begins at 8:30, and lasts approximately 1 hour.
The Oral Test will take place later that morning, or early afternoon. This will last anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes.
When your testing is completed, feel free to use the Computer Lab, the Student Lounge, or any of our facilities. You can ask our Activities Coordinator about upcoming events in the school, meet some of Omnicom's 'older' students, or spend the afternoon getting to know the neighbourhood. Your classes will begin the next day.
First Day of Study...
When you arrive at school, the class lists will be posted - you will find your name, your classroom, and your teachers.
We know it can be difficult to meet new people and make new friends, especially in a second language. Just remember, all of your classmates have been through this same experience, and will do all they can to make you feel comfortable. Your teachers are experienced, dedicated, and sensitive to the problems that you may face in your new city.
Relax, and have fun!
After your first day of studies, join the Orientation Meeting. The Program Director will introduce you to the city, the school, and all the staff at Omnicom.
