Logos School of English Education
The Logos School of English Education was founded in 1973 to make quality education available to students from Cyprus and around the world. Using a UK-based curriculum, which is adapted as necessary to meet the varying needs of our students, we have been able to maintain a standard of excellence which has made us one of the finest Christian private schools in the Middle East. Unfortunately today many schools have reduced education to books and grades. At Logos School we have included "relationships" in that equation. We provide a happy and caring environment making it highly conducive to the learning process. By maintaining a proper teacher-student ratio we are able to offer the highest degree of individual attention while challenging and motivating each student to reach their maximum level of attainment. Although our classes are mainly conducted in English, the Greek language is taught from first grade to GCE/GCSE and A level.
English as a Foreign Language (EFL)
The EFL department was started in September 2002 so that children, whose level of English is low, could join Logos School at the secondary level. Primary EFL Students are already catered for.
The aim of the course is to teach students a sufficient level of English to allow them to join the main class the following year.
An additional intermediate EFL class will be available the following year for those students whose level of English has not quite reached the required standard.
Students spend most of their time in EFL lessons, where they learn, enjoy and perfect English in a variety of ways. Aural, oral and audio-visual exercises stimulate the pupils' communication skills. Activities such as "Show and Tell" boost the students' confidence in the area of public speaking.
Pupils are also given a through grounding in English grammar and vocabulary. Essay writing skills are developed and students learn to cope with comprehension work, starting with simple stories and working their way to literary texts and topical newspaper articles.
EFL students are taught IT, Science, RS, Geography and History in separate lessons from the mainstream classes. In these lessons they begin to learn the vocabulary of the various subjects. Students join the mainstream classes for Mathematics.
