International Study Institute - Ireland

Teaching Approach
ISI can offer you a full range of exciting English courses which will stimulate your desire to learn English and ensure you make steady progress. We aim to teach the language you need to communicate in real life and to achieve a balance each day, between improving fluency and accuracy. Our highly qualified instructors draw from a wide range of the most effective and innovative teaching methods in order to offer the best possible language training. We aim to combine the skill of our teachers with a well-structured, learner-centred curriculum and provide you with clear learning objectives all the way through your course. The warm, friendly and relaxed surroundings at ISI will make it easy for you to progress well in English and to make new friends from all over the world.

Teachers

We select teachers not only for their qualifications, experience and passion for the English language, but also for their other interests. With their endless commitment and enthusiasm, you'll enjoy a very special learning experience.

Testing

We like to offer a very personal service at ISI and we like to get to know our students. We consider each student individually. On the first day each student takes an ISI written and oral placement test. We like to chat to students about their background and interests and language needs so that we can place them in a class with students of similar needs and ability. See our levels system below.

Classes

Classes are conducted in groups of 8 - 12 students. Using the best of traditional and modern teaching approaches, our teachers deliver a carefully prepared programme of language lessons, designed to help students master the key elements of the English language quickly. While all areas of reading, writing, listening and speaking are covered, the main emphasis is on communication and developing an ability to speak English with confidence.

Activities

ISI Ireland's social organizer provides a cultural and sporting programme for our students, which includes both afternoon and evening activities. Depending on the nature of the activity, students may be asked to pay certain entrance fees.

Accommodation

We highly recommend that all students stay with host families. We can personally guarantee that all our host families have been carefully selected by the school. The host family will provide:

* Breakfast and evening meal Monday to Friday and all meals at weekends
* A single or shared bedroom as requested
* A quiet study area (desk and chair)

Host families are usually located within a 45-minute commute of the city centre. Normally students speaking the same language will not be placed with the same host family.
