The School
The Linguaviva Centre is located in an elegant Georgian building, within walking distance of all the main cultural sites and shopping areas.
Founded in 1977, it is one of Ireland's most reputable English language schools, attracting students from all over the world.The school is recognised by the Department of Education as an English language school for the teaching of English as a foreign language.
Courses
When you arrive, you will be given a written test and an interview. You will then be placed in a class according to your level.
There are 6 levels at the Linguaviva Centre, which are based on performance in all 4 skills:
Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing.
Accommodation
Using a language in everyday situations is the best aid to fluency. For this reason most students choose to stay with a host family. The highest standard of host family accommodation is available to all Linguaviva students.
Families are very carefully selected. All accommodation is inspected and monitored on an ongoing basis by our accommodation officer. Host families are situated in the best residential areas of Dublin.
Students feel at home in the warm, friendly atmosphere of Irish familty life and many lasting friendships are made between the student and host family. Staying in an Irish home ensures total immersion in the language.
Facilities
Students have free access to the Internet. There is a list in the office for booking your time in the Computer Room. You should also make use of the library where there are simplified readers for English Language students at every level. In addition, there are many other books in stock.
You can borrow cassettes and language books to study during your free time in the school. Ask your teacher for advice. Remember that your work doesn’t stop when your classes finish!
Students can also borrow movie videos from the front office and watch them downstairs in the afternoons. This facility is available only Monday – Thursday (Sept. – June) and during July and August you can also watch a video on a Friday afternoon.
