Theory and practice courses for small groups
The practice course for small groups consists of three hours per day in groups of no more than five participants. Some 50% of the time is spent in the classroom as the theory part, and 50% is then immediately afterwards outside the classroom environment.
All of the senses are used as part of the learning process. Vocabulary that was still abstract in the classroom now becomes visible and is the object of questions and discussion. This part pf the lesson intentionally abandons the typical classroom settings.
Theory and practice course for individual and semi-individual groups
An individual study programme with methods tailored to your needs, with your own personal teacher, this is the surest, most effective way to learn and/or improve your Italian. The programme of our individual courses can correspond in theory and practice to our Italian practice courses for small groups, but it can also be oriented toward specific themes, content and subjects at no extra cost.
The theoretical part
The theoretical part takes place in the first 90 minutes of the course day, in which the vocabulary and grammatical structures necessary for the practical part are prepared. Italian is spoken only and the participants do most of the talking. Tedious explanations of grammar points and text book exercises are generally avoided here. The vocabulary and grammar for the respective course day are explained in our own course book. It also has written exercises to be completed as homework and corrected by the teacher, with which to revise the course material covered on the day. We have produced our own CD in studio conditions in order to supplement our courses with pronunciation and comprehension exercises. The course book and CD are included in the price of the course.
Beginners can expect the following results
You will be able to ask for practical information , go shopping, orientate yourself, numbers & prices, everyday vocabulary after one of our two-week courses in Italy (3 hours per day); you learn to describe yourself and others and to hold simple conversations in the dialogue and application parts.
Participants with previous knowledge
You will finally apply new and existing skills, be able to switch to Italian spontaneously, expand your vocabulary, improve your grammar, comprehension skills and the ability to express yourself. The practice concept enables you to lastingly improve your flexibility and spontaneity, and to stop translating from your native tongue when speaking the language. At intermediate level, a purely formal theoretic knowledge of grammar tables and text books can be brought to life by using the right method.
Advanced
You speak about topics from the professional world and current affairs, visit the villa of the Nobel prize winner, Eugenio Montale, with your teacher, make your own pesto and much more. The focus is on conversation and discussion, comprehension exercises and a marked improvement in the grammatical proficiency of each individual participant.
Accommodation
Holiday apartments and private rooms
We have contact with numerous local private landlords most of whom we have known for many years and who have a reasonable price-performance ratio. The apartments are located in the villages themselves, usually in the direct vicinity of the school and nearly always only a few minutes from the sea.
