Centro Grazia Deledda

Our course levels are three: Elementary, Intermediate and Advanced. Each level includes a general Italian course and supplementary activities (trekking, theatre, Sardinian culture, cookery) which may vary according to the course level. (Please see the charts for a detailed description of each level programme).
Lessons and activities may be held both in the morning and in the afternoon, from Monday to Friday.
Classes average 5 students and 10 is the maximum number.
On the first day of the course an entry text establishes the appropriate course level for each student.
General Italian courses are held by mother-tongue university graduates with language teaching experience and training. Supplementary activities are held by mother-tongue university graduates or by experts.
Learners under 16 are not admitted to the courses.
Teaching Method
We believe that language is first of all a means of communication. This is why we teach our students to communicate both in everyday situations and when they use Italian in work contexts. Much weight is therefore given to practical abilities and functional knowledge. Grammar is taught from a functional point of view and teachers develop both oral and written abilities with a slight stress on spoken language.
Our supplementary activities help to reach the targets of our general Italian courses and also enrich the experience of learning with complementary knowledge and abilities.
Other Activities
At no extra charge, our school organizes various optional activities, such as seminars, visits to museums and to typical handicraft workshops, trips, special country dinners ("spuntini "), film shows, grape-harvests, mushrooming, brief courses on painting, drawing, digital photography and traditional weaving.
There is no set programme for these activities, schedules may vary from week to week, depending on the season and on the number of students wishing to participate. You may also use the computer hall of the school for self-study and for your internet connections.
Furthermore, the town offers various sport facilities, so in your spare time you can practise gymnastics, soccer, volleyball, tennis, jogging, cycling and basketball.
Accommodation
You can choose among four types of accommodation: family, hotel, bed & breakfast and agriturismo (holiday accommodation on a farm). Please note that the prices and the conditions shown are approximate since they can vary according to the season, the number of people in your party (if you are a group), the duration of your stay and the room type (single, double, triple, private house).
