Elle::Due Language Training Centre

ABOUT US
Elle::Due is a Language Training Centre set up in 2004 by teachers who have been working intensively over the past two decades in many language institutes based in Florence (British Institute, Institut Français, Stanford University, Syracuse University, European University Institute, among others).
The two founders of Elle::Due, Annarita Zacchi and Leonardo Gandi, are language teachers and teacher trainers as well. They also are members of ILSA, the first professional Association of Italian Language Teachers. As ILSA members they regularly run teacher training workshops and seminars.
All Elle::Due teachers are specifically trained, attend in-service courses and regularly meet to share ideas and innovations.

OUR METHOD
Elle::Due teachers only use Italian in the class, even with beginners.
What beginners are trained to learn first is what to do and what to say when they don't understand.
We do not adopt a specific textbook. We use carefully selected authentic materials for reading and listening activities. We create stimulating opportunities for talking and writing. We plan the learning experiences we offer to the students in every detail.
We give students a concise Italian grammar booklet for personal consultation. However we tend to have students build their own grammar sheets as part of the class work. At the end of the course a dossier, including all materials employed or created by the student, document and illustrate her or his achievements and experiences.
We do not use fixed programmes for each level. We think that the learning experience will be more successful if it is negotiated by the teacher and the students. What will be learned will be in any case different from person to person.
During the classes there are moments in which students interact between each other in a totally autonomous way. The teacher does not control them or what they are doing.
The teacher's responsibility is to enable learners to take as much responsibility for their learning as they can.
