Teaching Methodology
The teaching methodology employed at LINGUA IT is based on the most current educational techniques and texts available. Finely tuned to meet the specific needs and interests of different classes and students, each language course focuses simultaneously on the four components on which all language is built: oral expression and comprehension (speaking and listening) and written expression and comprehension (writing and reading). In addition to traditional grammar instruction and speaking exercises where focus is given to the linguistic form and characteristics of Italian, students are encouraged to participate in less structured activities that promote spontaneous, sub-conscious learning, developing communication skills in a natural and instinctive manner.
Course Levels
Beginners:
In the Beginners Level, students learn basic communication skills clearly geared for the everyday.
Elementary:
Students of the Elementary Level actively participate in conversation structured around general issues and topics.
Intermediate:
Through discussion and textual analysis, students in the Intermediate Level explore a range of complicated themes and ideas, gaining a strong command of the Italian language and a deeper understanding of both grammatical and linguistic elements.
Post-Intermediate:
This course is dedicated to perfecting students’ communication skills and equipping them with an understanding of the nuances that make up a thorough knowledge of Italian.
Advanced:
In this course students practice using Italian naturally and competently in all conceivable life situations.
Proficiency Perfection:
At this level, students already have a strong mastery of the Italian language. The Proficiency Perfection Course is devoted to fine-tuning students’ syntax and manner of expression through participation in discussion groups dedicated to a variety of topics.

STUDENT ACCOMMODATION
LINGUA IT provides a fully co-ordinated ACCOMMODATION SERVICE for students during their stay in Verona and can offer assistance with any queries they may have concerning this or any other everyday need.
Stay with a Host Italian Family:
Students have the opportunity to live with a host Italian family during their stay in Verona. They will be given a fully furnished room in the family’s home located in the centre (or just outside) Verona.
Share Apartments:
For students who prefer to remain self-reliant during their stay in Verona, LINGUA IT has a selection of share apartments available for rent. These apartments, of varying sizes, have all been thoroughly inspected and selected only if they meet a strict regiment of criteria.
Hotels, Pensiones, Boarding Houses or B&Bs (Bed & Breakfast)
All the hotels, pensiones, boarding houses and B&Bs recommended by LINGUA IT have been thoroughly inspected by the school’s staff and selected on the basis of their cleanliness, spaciousness and welcoming atmosphere.
Guided Tours
Held on Saturdays or Sundays, these excursions give students the opportunity to explore the famous artistic and cultural cities of Northern Italy such as Venice, Padova, Vicenza, Mantova, Parma, Modena, Bologna, Treviso, Trento and Ferrara. Students are given a sensory feast as they experience such awesome artworks as Giotto’s famous frescoes in Padova, Palladio’s monumental Olympic Theatre in Vicenza, the beautiful Estense Castle in Ferrara, the Rialto Bridge and exquisite Piazza San Marco in Venice, the Ducal Palace in Mantova and many other masterpieces of Italian art and architecture.
The school also organises weekend excursions to towns further afield (including an overnight stay in a hotel) giving students the opportunity to visit such Italian landmarks as: Venice and the islands of the Venetian Lagoon; the hidden treasures of Tuscany and the Renaissance model city Pienza; the coastal jewels of the Ligure Riviera such as Portovenere, the towns of Cinque Terre and the Palazzo Ducale in Genova; the Byzantine Basilica in Ravenna and Federico Fellini’s hometown Rimini; the Ville Venete of the Renaissance, the castles of Trentino … and many other surprises to be found in the Calendar of Guided Tours.
