With a population of just over 300,000, Christchurch is the largest city in the South Island. It is an important educational centre, with two universities and many other educational institutions. Christchurch is a spacious, green city, with lots of parks and gardens. The elegant city centre provides visitors with excellent opportunities for shopping, eating out and nightlife. Christchurch is situated between the ski fields of the Southern Alps and the beaches of the South Pacific. It is a great centre for sports, outdoor activities – and for exploring the magnificent South Island.

Teacher Training

Languages International has trained and developed over 1,200 teachers since it ran its first teacher training course in 1988. LITEC (Languages International Teacher Education Centre) runs a variety of courses for native speakers and non-native speakers:

* Cambridge CELTA for those with native speaker level English who want to begin a career in English language teaching
* Cambridge DELTA for English language teachers with native speaker level English who want to develop their teaching skills
* TESOL Course for non-native speakers who want to develop their teaching and language skills
* Cambridge Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT) for students whose level of English is intermediate or above and who would like to increase their knowledge of English language teaching.
