TANDEM Frankfurt e.V.

What is special about our school?
The "zentrum" is unique in its friendly and welcoming atmosphere; its curriculum is entertaining and its results are excellent.

The "zentrum für deutsche sprache und kultur" is located in a quiet but central part of Frankfurt. Means of public transport will take you to the city centre in a few minutes. A large shopping mile called "Zeil" offers many opportunities for shopping, socialising, and browsing. It is located a few steps from the historical centre, famous for the City Hall, Paulskirche, and Cathedral. Just across the river Main, museums invite you to up-to-date exhibitions.

Our Staff
The "zentrum für deutsche sprache und kultur" is run by a team. In the office, you'll find advice on all topics related to language programmes and accommodation. Here you register for class, and for our cultural activities. Get in touch with one of our staff: we'll try to help you with your questions.

Compact Classes
16 units per week

The classes take place in groups of 10 to 16 students. We offer all levels: from beginners' to advanced. Compact classes are designed for students who wish to study the German language on a regular basis in the course of several months. Our classes will develop your linguistic comprehension in terms of reading and listening, you will train your communicational abilities. as well as phonetics and your grammar skills. You can combine compact classes with an additional programme. Every wednesday there are cultural activities and linguistic training programmes. Cultural activities programmes are free (except for tickets, fare, admission to museums, etc.)

Combined Classes
32 units per week

In case you intend to learn German more intensively, we recommend to combine two compact classes: you may attend morning and/or afternoon and/or evening classes of different levels. (However, this option is not possible for complete beginners.)

Summer Programme
In July and August we offer an interesting programme in addition to the compact or combined classes, including cultural and leisure activities (e.g. sightseeing in Frankfurt, visiting various institutions, seminars and excursions 1-2 times a week). Depending on the the interests of participants, we can arrange weekend trips, for instance to Heidelberg or Cologne (tickets, fare and admission to museums are not included in the fees that follow).

Cultural Activities
One of our main topics is, besides German language instruction, to make you and all of our students familar with the interesting things about Germany, especially on the cultural and economic fields. Once a week we'll therefore provide activities on changing topics. There will be visits of Frankfurt city sightseeing points such as the historical centre of Frankfurt, Goethehaus (place of birth of famous poet Johann Wolfgang Goethe), and Paulskirche (first German parliament), as well as going to museums, or visiting famous industries (Opelwerke, a GM production site; Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung), or leisure sports activities.
All students are welcome to take part in these activities.

If requested, we will be able to provide private accommodation for you. Some hosts live near our school. Families mostly live in "green" boroughs, downtown or near the university you will find mainly singles, or people who share an apartment. Some hosts also provide breakfast or half-board.

Rooms will usually be reserved on Sunday before the language courses start. Hosts also provide bedclothes and towels. The comfort of the rooms will vary.
